A good breakfast, a healthy hot meal, a peaceful night’s sleep. These basics make a world of difference. Did you know that 4 out of 10 children lack access to a proper meal? And that 1 out of 10 doesn’t have their own bed? Many children grow up in poverty and shame. This may be new to you. But now that you know, you want to help. But you don’t know how. And if you do, your actions hardly have any effect. Together, we can make a difference. Together we can be the storm that washes this misery away.

Why it’s necessary

Children who grow up without enough food, who are sleep-deprived and whose parents are in prison, often end up on the same path. The path that leads to addiction and crime. Sounds dramatic? Perhaps. But it would be wrong to paint a rosy picture of the situation. What we can do, however, is fix this misery. Together.

A solid foundation

The JEX Foundation makes Rotterdam healthy, prosperous, fair and safe. We collaborate with hundreds of entrepreneurs, aid organisations, schools in Rotterdam and... with you. We raise funds and provide help that directly benefits children. Not by paying off parents’ debts or transferring money without knowing what happens to it. We take action, not shortcuts.

Together with partners like the Excelsior Foundation and Stichting Jarige Job we give underprivileged kids the foundation they deserve. A foundation they currently don’t have, but need. To be able to thrive. We provide meals at school, because without food you don’t have the energy to learn. We offer after-school care, which includes homework assistance and support for personal problems. We take them on informative outings to show them what’s out there and fuel their dreams. We surprise them with occasional gifts to brighten their days. And even provide a bed if needed, ensuring a good night’s rest for a new day full of opportunities.

Join us in building a better future for the tens of thousands of children in Rotterdam who never eat breakfast or have to sleep in a crowded bed. Children too hungry to sleep, slump in their desks with pale faces, unable to focus in the classroom. Longing for a future that doesn’t exist.

Everyone deserves a good start. We owe it to our children to provide them with a safe and secure childhood. With the nutrition they need to grow up strong and healthy. To ensure they can sleep undisturbed and safely. That’s how we prepare them for adulthood and empower them to make their own choices in life. Choices they will have. Choices to do what makes them happy.
